Antonio Olivieri presents a sort of tightness and sheen quality in his tracks that grade him a highly skilled and polished producer. Antonio helms a knack of finding inescapable mood and desire in this 3 track EP, ʻRudimentsʼ: the latest from Steyoyoke, and arguable itʼs most exciting output yet.

ʻRudimentsʼ is an EP rich in mood and atmosphere, and one that is likely to entice any dry dance floor!

909 Tools EP is the fourth outing for Phil Weeks’ series of super-limited edition, hand-tagged, white-label vinyl EPs. As the title suggests it’s all about the Roland TR-909, with four beat-led tools crafted on the classic drum machine. There’s also plenty of the sampling and acid lines that we’ve come to know and love from the Parisian, and a sizeable dose of vintage French House inspiration running through all the cuts.

Phil doesn’t hide the fact that this is a record he primarily made for himself: “It’s four different tools that are needed all the time in the record bag, well, at least for my record bag! It’s something aimed at DJs to work with in the mix”.

Since 2000 Phil Weeks has released his unique brand of house music on some of the world’s leading underground labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Magnetic, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which is responsible for the majority of his original output. Robsoul has been responsible for his three critically acclaimed albums, including 2012’s ‘Raw Instrumental’.

Faint Frequency are a small label that started out of Washington DC and was founded in early 2012. Their goal is simple - to make good music and spread it. Their music releases tend to focus on the deeper, groovier and thought provoking domains of electronic music.

The sample track I have chosen is from one of their artists, Big in Malta, the track is features a broken beat back bone with a twitchy hypnotic guitar riff over the top. This is one of my favourite tracks from the samples I listened to, anyone who likes broken beat, drum & bass and house should appreciate it too.

Smirconia – a music producer totally dedicated to electronic dance music. His passion for music started early in life. He was indulging in chart music already at young age when his music addiction became apparent. Later on, when the techno scene became alive in Europe, it did not take long time and he bought turntables and the equipment to start his career in music business as a DJ. It did not take long time and he was booked for major events such as „Goliath“ or „Streetparade/Mainstation“. Apart from all this success, he never neglected his formal education and completed university studies of which a part was done in Madrid for his passion of culture and languages. But music caught up with him and his addiction to music accumulated in the setup of his own music production studio.

One can only look forward for the new productions of Smirconia. He will definitively surprise us in the near future.
